My sister is having a baby soon!
We had a shower for her a couple weeks ago.
I made this for her and the baby:
I got the idea when I was asked to sew a bird together as a contribution to another friend's "bird mobile". The pattern for the birds is here. I hand-sewed the birds (with some last-minute help from my aunt, my sister, and her friends), and my husband helped me assemble the mobile. He's so handy.
I made this centerpiece too. It's a diaper cake. It's not edible. :) It matches the colors my sister has chosen for the nursery.
Just wanted to share with you...Please, steal these ideas and use them. I stole them first...so it's ok!
Bird Mobile and Diaper Cake
Oh My Goodness..
My "baby" boy has been saying the cutest things, and I've been meaning to document them before he starts sounding more "mature". :)
The notable quote in this one is "Oh, my goodness...huge!". He says "Oh, my goodness.." a lot. It's so cute! He also says "Ya.." like he's German or something. Oh, wait...much of him IS German. I guess the "Ya" might be in German genes. (Is is Dja...or Ja...any help?...Grace?)
In other news, I made a second Apron for the boy above. He put it on, said he didn't like it, and took it off. My feelings were not hurt. :) I think he'll like it later. If not...I still like it. :)
I Sew
So, I haven't been blogging so much. Sorry. :)
One reason is pictured above. I learned to sew!! Woo hoo! (Thanks, Mom)...what's better?...I like it! I'm excited about it.
So, I began with this curtain project. There are two identical windows in our dining room. I chose this fabric, and I love it more every day. They're simple...probably need a valance or something too...but...they fit on the window...and the plaid is straight...and they're cute...and they provide privacy...and I love them!
I also made little ties to hold the curtains back during the day.I chose my favorite part of the plaid as a little "accent" for the ties (is that what they'd be called?). Aren't those little bubble-things so cute?
Anyway...just wanted to share.
I'll post more about the holidays in days to come.
Happy New Year!
